In 2012, the Hill District's Next Leaders program through CORO Pittsburgh planned a 5K race as an end of year community project. The idea was well received and many community members wanted to see the race continue as an annual event. In 2013, State Representative Jake Wheatley organized the UpHill 5K in conjunction with his annual Community Appreciation Day celebration which was combined with his newly launched Health and Wellness Weekend. In effort to keep this endeavor moving forward, the Hill Community Development Corporation has partnered with other organizations to host the 2015 UpHill5k Run/Walk. Through participating in the UpHill 5K, partakers from throughout the city and region can find ways to connect and learn more about the Hill District community as well as participate in a wealth of exciting opportunities within the area. Last year, over 100 runners participated in the UpHill 5K. This year we are looking to go even bigger and better. Join us for the UpHill5k Run/Walk, “Celebration of Life”.
